About the development

Physical regeneration of an area can often provide a catalyst for wider social regeneration. In this particular scheme the two worked hand in hand. Developed in close consultation with the local Council’s Housing Strategy Team together with insight from Neighbourhood Teams

the new homes succeeded in not only meeting local housing need but in totally transforming a once derelict and unused piece of land. Wider aims to create local employment opportunities were also successfully met.

Development officer

Having worked in the construction industry for close to 30 years, I still feel a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment in being involved in the regeneration of our neighbourhoods and can see how the end result impacts positively on our customers and the local communities. During the contract period, apprentice opportunities were created for five local, young residents. Two of these apprentices made such a positive impression that they have now moved onto other sites under development by The Casey Group.
